Baltimore among worst U.S. cities to live in, survey finds
Calling it one of the most dangerous cities in the United States, a new survey listed Baltimore as one of the worst cities to live in in America.
Baltimore ranked 14th among the 50 worst cities to live in, according to a survey by 24/7 Wall Street.
The survey cited Baltimores violent crime rate (1,536 crimes in the city for every 100,000 residents) and poverty rate (22.9 percent of the citys population lives below the poverty line) among the reasons for the rankings.
Detroit was ranked the worst city to live in, with Memphis, Tennessee, St. Louis, Missouri, Flint, Michigan and Birmingham, Alabama rounding out the top five.
According to the city, the rankings were determined by reviewing data on the 551 U.S. cities with a population of 65,000 or more as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau. Crime rates, employment growth, access to restaurants and attractions, educational attainment and housing affordability were among the variables taken into consideration for the survey.
