King: Trump ‘doesn’t seem interested’ in Russia election meddling

Sen. Angus King Angus KingKing: Trump doesnt seem interested in Russia election meddling Sunday shows preview: Trump pushes back as Russia probe heats up Crash Override malware heightens fears for US electric grid MORE (I-Maine) said on Sunday that President Trump doesnt appear to be interested in Russian election meddling despite the ongoing probe into alleged ties between his campaign and Moscow.

I cant imagine coming into office with this fact of this Russian engagement in our election, and not digging into it, King told NBCs Chuck Todd on Meet the Press.

I believe it is one of the most serious attacks weve had on our country in recent years, and the president doesnt seem interested in it, he continued.

King went on to mention James Comeys recent testimony before a Senate panel in which the fired FBI director said he met with Trump nine separate times.

In none of those [interactions] did the president say what did the Russians do? How did they do it? How do you know they did it? And what can we do about it? King asked.

Kings comments come after The Washington Post reported last week the president was under investigation for obstruction of justice. Trump tweeted Friday saying he was under investigation for firing Comey.

This is serious stuff, and all of this Trump, Comey and obstruction of justice is sort of obscuring the underlying of what I think is really the big story, King said on Sunday.
